    is the m coupe a 2 seater?

Is the M coupe a 2 seater or 4? its hard to tell in the pictures that I have been looking at.

this is the best picture I have found and I assume its a 2 seater and all this (except the strut bar) is stock. Or is this "box" added on? I just want to be sure before I put this on my list of potnetial cars to buy.

    OMG: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...QQcmdZViewItem

M-Coupes from 1999 and 2000 had the 240hp motor while the 2001 and 2002s had the S54 315hp motor. In other words, spend the extra bucks and get the 01+.

It's a two seater. I would wait a couple of months and get the new Z4, or wait a year for a monster ///M version of this car...

why wait, get the z4 coupe and buy the kit to swap in the 400hp v8 from the last m5. Then get a couple tuner parts and have a 500hp, v8, coupe. Hot looking and fast!

That said, i think PC wants a used car...hence looking at older cars. I would almost go with the vr6 GTI over the R32....that AWD makes it sooo heavy.

to keep the same power to weight ratio, you need about 10hp PER 100lbs.....the R32 is 240hp/236tq @ 3400lbs, the VR6 GTI is 200hp/195tq @ 3000lbs

    so looking at power to weight ratio's : R32 -14.2 and VR6GTI - 15

Thats pretty close. Now the TQ is a little bit large gap (thanks to the extra .4 L of displacement) but its still pretty close. When you add in the extra drivetrain loss due to AWD the power to weights get even closer. For ultimate cheap power the 1.8T GTI would be an even better bet. But sticking with NA V6 you could do a few mods and get the gap even closer bettween the 2.

IMO unless you NEED the AWD, or plan to just keep the car stock and want a fast car, then you should just go with the GTI.

yeah but I want to hone my skills in AWD. I think I have pretty much mastered the rwd techniques. Plus I want my next car to be something rare yet easy and practical to drive.

..practical is really necessary for me. I would imagine the 850 to be very thirsty. The R32 is a hatchback which makes carrying larger items easier. You never know when you have to bring something big home.

Good luck finding an R32. There are somewhat a rarity and alot have been crashed. There is a company in Tampa that specializes in buying the totaled R32s and parting them out on VWvortex. Also the owner of that company has a R32 swapped jetta, including AWD and all. I would go for the Audi A3 when it hits the states with the 3.2 Quattro.

I just picked up a Black S52 for a daily driver, It's a badass car, gonna put some money into modding it, hopefully it'll hold me off until the MZ4 Coupe is out and proven to be reliable.

240 hp or 315 hp? is the engine bay really cramped or no? Thats my main concern with the r32. You have to take the whole front off just to take off anything! I put money for something else right now, but in a few weeks I might be buying the R32 or m coupe. I figured that I would rarely use the back seat.

240hp, I plan on modifying it of course and it works better for what I need (for 10k less you can easily make the S52 motor as powerful or more powerful than the S54). It's definately small but a blast to drive. I haven't look too hard at the engine but most of the stuff looks to be right there in front of you, a few covers you have to remove here and there but nothing major.

there is a s/c kit already out for the s52 coupe/roadster and its about 6k. But the s54 also has the 6 speed, the s52 has a five speed.
