Help matching subs to my amp

Hey guys I have a 94 mustang convertible, I have an aftermarket kenwood headunit and some 6.5's all the way around I love deep bass. I had a friend thAt had a jl500.1 amp and 2 jl 12's in the trunk of his mustang and it sounded perfect!

I have a friend who got rid off his system and I got a 760 watt pioneer amp, since I already have it what would be a nice setup I could run with this amp??

Post up the model number of the amp you have without knowing more details on it I cannot recommend a sub for you. Also how much room is in your trunk with a convertible that is usually less than normal because of the roof being retracted. The amp I have is a pioneer gm5300t

Here are the specs I found online
Peak Music Power - 760-Watts
4 Ohm 125 Watts x 2 Output Power
4 Ohm Bridged 380 Watts x 1 Output Power
2 Ohm 190 Watts x 2 Output Power
1 Watt into 4 Ohms 75 dBA Signal to Noise



Do u recommend one SD 12 with the amp bridged?

Also do u need a farad cap?

Yes 1 SD 12 would work fine off that amp, and no you should not need a cap. They are only a temporary fix to a bigger problem if you have light dimming after installing an aftermarket stereo there are much better ways of fixing it than trying a cap.

Thanx for all the help as u can tell I'm a newb at car systems. Last question I think, do I need a sd d2-12 2 or 4??? I'm not sure what that last number means

To run your amp at 4ohm mono you need a dual 2ohm sub, so the D2. You will then wire the coils in series ( - coil 1 to + of coil 2) then you use the remaining - of coil 2 and + of coil 1 to run to your amp giving you a 4ohm mono load to the amplifier.

On an impulse buy I bought a kicker l5 in a box for $100. I had him play it on his car first before buying n it sounded great! I got the speaker home and took it out of the box and it had this model number 08s10l54. Now here is where I'm a bit confused.

I know it's a dvc and by taking the sub out I believe it's wired parallel. It's wired negative to negative and positive to positive.

Turns out the model number of the amp I have is different it's an older version I believe. It's a pioneer gm-x862.

I'm thinking this amp is a little small for the sub what do u think?
