What if I wanted to put 1 Solo Baric 15" in a box facing the front of the car, with a port in the rear deck? would it sound good? and how big should the box be?

or face both towards the front. Speaker on the right side, port on the left(looking from the front back)
No, subs will always hit harder facing the rear. Depending on the vehicle, sometimes firing up in a sealed enclosure works awesome. The main factor that equals hard, clean, tight bass is a tuned ported box. A frequency around 30-42hz are a good range to hear some hard good bass. Especially in a 2.5 cu. ft. enclosure. Using this method you could have one 12L7 and sound like 3 15's, very easily :). I hope this maybe answered some rumored responses I see through out this thread. PM me if you have any other questions. Thanks.

exactley what i said. Show me some db scores that you have or some SQ scores and then tell me which is better. I am talking sactioned events, not some little bobo shows(db drag, IASCA, IDBL, etc)
and pinto that is what i had in my civic, for a little bit. 2 12" Image Dynamic IDmax's and two modded earthquake d2 shredders.
Well considering I have engineers on my staff that specialize in designing, implementing and conducting DB drag vehicles and shows, I think I know a little bit more about you. In fact, I am very good friends with the owner and president of IASCA/DB Drag and got my MECP MASTER INSTALLER CERTIFICATION with him at Installer Institute and Metra areas. I've always hit high 160s when I used to be into competition. We don't do that anymore though, we deal more with factory integration, audio/video, multimedia, and alarms. We specialize on high-end vehicles; i.e., Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce vehicles. Along with every other vehicle out there. We go more for quality, high-end, user-friendly, installs, not so much for competition. But, if need be, we are there with a team of engineers to make sure our display will be a few steps above the rest. The Best Audio and Video.

Which db drag vechiles out of curisity? So you know Papadeas, that doesn't mean you know systems. Hell, even i can drop names. And i take the MECP cert same as a ASE cert, it means you are book smart. You have a team of engineers? Hell a bunch of us built national competive setups in our garage without any fancy programs or engineers and guess what that gave us? The second most amount of trophies taken home from SBN, got beat only by team JBL. WHat years did you compete out too, that will tell alot about the set up. IDBL had some messed up rules for the street class so basically a walled vechile was considered a street car. Now when i competed in db drag, i did in the low 150 range on the new sensor setup, good enough for a 20th spot in the world.
ANd thanks for the plug for your company. Pretty much what you just said was you build show setups that look good. The orignal question asked what would perform best in a trunk car. Tried and true method, speakers facing forward on the left, port facing forward on the right, seats folded down. It works well in a trunked car like the crx style box works well in a crx and suv.
By the way, i was looking at y'alls installs. I didn't see any SPL installs, just some basic installs done in high end cars. Nothing high end. 18" eclipse woofer and the mojo amp was about it

LMAO/W DROPCIVIC!!!!! yea u see his "custom" installs and all he is using is a metra kit or kit of some other brand. ant that porche wit the jvc radio mounted in the factory location. that dont even need a kit. whats custom about that?? not to mention the headrest tv's that are mounted on the outside rather then flushed into the headrest like a pro would do. i checked out their installs to and the only thing it was good for was a few laughs.
20th in the world? that's it? pff. Try 3rd in the US, 5th in the world. Honkey. wait, that was me.
Drop's box design is better then fruit cakes.
1 solo 15 should be in an absolute minimum of 3 cubic feet plus vent displacement and woofer displacement.
160 is a decent score, depending on the class and sanctioning body.
