New SRT-4, need help/advise

I just got my SRT-4 and im only up to 750 on the odometer. i want to do some safe modds but im low on cash right now. also i have no idea where to get anything installed.
oh, and where the hell can i get 91 octane? is it better to use 93 or 89?
i came to the meets a few times with my old 84 supra but that thing crapped out a long while ago.
Any help?

Use 93 octane, it just makes sense for like 10 cents more a gallon.

Use 93 if possible...not sure if the SRT-4 is 50 state legal...if it is the minimum should be 91 octane. any good gas station will have 93 octane.

Deal with the dealer since you probally want your warrenty. im sure like all dealers they can be very picky about aftermarket stuff.

fundamental theory is exhaust mods is a good 1st mod for turbo cars..

depending upon how loud you can tolerate, and like spacemonkey said, you warrenty i would recomend in this order, stage1, wastegate, manual boost controller, and then the bdj 3" dump turboback...thats about 750 dollars worth of mods and will bring you to low 13's, also the mopar sts is a good mod

Yea thats not gonna work, the dealer i bought from is in labelle (aka hick central) when i talked to them about installing they told me thier shop guys have never had in an SRT-4, and they seem to think any after market mod including those from mopar void the warrenty.
Is there a good proformance shop around? or would someone be nice enough to offer to help me thats already installed srt-4 modds? heh

Perhaps you should try a local dealer? bob Dance?

Problem is mopar upgrades are fairly price...not sure if anything above stage 1 is in your price range.

But what are you looking for power or handling as a upgrade?

I would say SRTforum regional forums...you should find alot of help there.

Well i was already looking at turbo upgrades, but i was definatly going with stage 1 and a blow off valve asap. i just lack experiance in aftermarket upgrades. A short shifter and boost controller would seemingly be a good idea aswell.

i highly recommend the sts first. the install is overly simple because mopar made the whole unit, not just the stick. also, the stage 1 is just a pcm (for 04+) and the dealer has to put it in. you can also do some free mods

i thought it included injectors, and only the dealer can put it in? what do you mean by free mods?

what year do you have? for 03 models it is a set of injectors and a pcm, the 04/05 models had those injectors stock, and the stage 1 only consisted of a pcm. free mods are like the spring mod and free air mod, i forget the others but just sign up to srtforums.com and they can help you out. i advise against the free mods especially on a stage 0 car, but w/e you want. the springs mod especially leans the car out alot, but is cheap hp

the sts is the mopar short throw shifter, you can get it about anywhere for inbetwee 120-140 i just shortens the effort of you shifts and the distance you go, not the height of the shifter, alot of people like it and most see time gains for it. it wont add and power or tranny grip, just makes the user a little more efficient

Your car will run like ass if you put anything less than 91 octane in.

as stated, Stage 1 is just a PCM for the 04' up models. I have a whopping 200 miles on my SRT-4 (just bought it Saturday), so I haven't done anything to it yet, either. But I am leaning towards hard pipe/BOV, downpipe, and boost controller for a start.

If you want to stick Mopar (warranty) Winter Park Dodge is opening a Mopar Performance shop very soon (almost ready) and will be selling and installing the Mopar staged upgrades. But it is pricey to go that route, but then again, you can keep your warranty.

Either way, for under $1k in mods you can easily go low 13/high 12 if you know what you are doing and make the right choices. Personally I don't plan on messing too much with mine right away as I use it for my daily driver, I already have a modded turbo truck that takes up most of my free (wrenching) time and money.

I bought my SRT at Central Florida Chrysler on the corner of John Young pkwy and Sandlake rd. They been having the Performance Shop for awhile now. But about the $1k for low 13's. A WGA($160), 2.5" Down pipe with full exhaust($334) and Slicks($??) can get you low 13.2-13.4 etc..

the spring mod only replaces the spring in your stock wastegate (with a stronger one, to hold it opne longer for more boost) the wastegate replaces the whole unit, so it wont fail under the higher boost pressures, and is tested. when you throw on a tenser spring, your not sure how much more boost you will run. basically...i was also thinking he would want more power everywhere, so slicks on a fwd in fl is out, just get the dump exhaust and a stage 1 pcm...wont through a tone of codes when you boost 18psi
