ill take your tires if you dont want them
riding fixed gear i go through quite a few
lose the toe straps and get proper Look cleats or SPD's. you'll never go back.

the guy changed them out to the standard flat pedal when i bought them. any suggestions on a pedal/shoe combo?

Since you're pretty new I would try to buy used. If you're one of those "I need new" guys, then I'd go with either Speedplay Zero Stainless (top choice), Speedplay Zero Chromoly (okay choice), or Look Keo Classic/Keo Sprint. For shoes I wouldn't buy $500 Sidi's unless you're planning on getting competitive; I have a pair of Specialized base model shoes for $90 (acquired them lightly used for $50).
But on the other hand, very nice bike. Love the color scheme, it's similar to mine. Cannondale's have always been pretty. Are the frames for the CAAD 8 still made in the USA or have they done away with that?

loco motion in baldwin is having a sale on SOME shoes.
if you have deep pockets, Gaerne G.THN tri shoes. carbon fiber soles, I've used and abused them for 3,000+ miles and it took a hard fall at 30mph to break something on them. they dry in 5 minutes.
and if you don't feel like shelling out 350 for a pair, you can get the polycarbonate version for a LOT less.
i've been riding on Shimano look-styles, I love the engagement on them. Plus used Look-styles are dirt-cheap. I got my used set on my fixie for 10 bucks. My Ultegra SL's carry a steep pricetag, but the 105 and subsequent cheaper versions fit just as well, I just wanted them to match my Ultegra SL crank.

get some spd mountain bike pedals
they work fine for recreation riding
i got my pedals used for 10 bucks off ebay and my shoes were 35 on clearance
this set up rides fine
thanks guys
for the pedals i think im going to go with the keo classics or shimano 105 as they are the same price on ebay
for shoes ill go to a bike store to make sure i get a proper size and fit
as for where the frame was made. i was looking at it last night and unfortunatey its not made in the usa. now its in taiwan. still looks like quality to me though
