tuning ?

what's the best way to start tuning my car? something not too complex but effective? i'd assume i'd need a wideband to see air/fuel. but what for tuning?

not looking for something cheap, that won't work but not looking to spend 1,000bucks on something with every feature i could imagine that i prob. won't know what half of them are either. just to start tuning basic/air fuel and possibly timing.

i have a chipped ecu running a chrome basemap.

with that being said, i don't know anything about tuning i won't lie. i'm clueless. so i don't know if this is the best way to go. i don't know how difficult chrome is to use? if it's not that hard and something a bit of practice will teach me without ruining anything. then that's sort of what i'm looking for.

so please tell me if this is the best way to go, or other ways/ ? i'm going to research everything i find in this thread.

honestly the only things i know of to tune with or that i've heard of are chrome/chip
safc and some other air flow controller. i don't know anything about these only that i have heard of them. so i wouldn't even really know what to search/look for. that's why i made the thread, all help appreciated.

not too worried about it burning/breaking (over a period of time). i'll just rebuild it again or another motor. i'd appreciate the knowledge of being able to do it though.

^ yea I just fell "said software" + 400 give or take for a real tunner to tune my shit is worth it all day IMO

btw, look what could happen if i let a shop here touch my car. just take a couple minutes to browse these 2 threads... people around here are shitty.
this is another reason i'd like to learn to tune my own shit, so i know it's done rite in the long run. it may not be the first time but in the end i'll know what the hells going on..

2 different threads with the same topic in different sections. each thread has other people that got ****ed by the same shop. they took that guy for almost 40,000 dollars, never completed the work, didn't give him everything he ordered, and put cheap shit on his car instead of the good shit they charged him for.

theres a couple other guys that chimed in and got ****ed by him too.

my civic only goes to the track, none of the people there know where i live, i go to there place. i don't go to meets around here, if i go to walmart or something i park where the cameras can see my car. when i had it together the first time 3 guys were standing around my car when i went in the local hobby store. i don't know if they were after the indash dvd or the car. either way i walked out,they seen me coming and ran off.

See the problem is when you select your efi system.Let your local tuner select it for you or have him give you the info on what ems systems can he tune.But most efi systems are user friendly.still doesn't count the chassis dyno etc needed to calibrate efi systems today.Tools ect.Trust me its not hard put sure isn't simple.
You best bid is to read go to efiuniversity.com and find one of there books.
It has awsome info and you can go from there.

what do you do if you're timing the timing belt and between grooves it's either 1/8 inch too far back or to far forward? try stretching the belt more to get it on?

it was spot on with same belt before i pulled it apart, now it's bout 1/8 inch off on crank pulley either to far back or to far forward skipping a groove
