    Honda Experts? Ferrera valves or not?

    ok, this guy in atlanta has a head for sale. it's got minor port work according to him, i haven't seen a stock head in a while but this one looks pretty clean in the ports and consistent, maybe cause is hasn't been ported? i don't know for sure. he also says it has ferrea valves? do these look like ferrea valves to you? suposedly has skunk 2 stage 2 cams. look at the pictures and let me know what you think before i go pick this stuff up. also suposedly has skunk 2 springs and retainers. the only downfall is most of the stuff i fool with is gsr, this is a b16 head. i don't have a aftermarket manifold and will have to purchase one.

    if you don't have a clue, please don't post. i don't want anyone guessing.

    some port work, valves are not OEM, retainers are not OEM, and cams should have a part # somewhere.

    I'd be cautious when buying a head like this. it could need machine work right off the bat.

    how much do you think the head is worth? and can you please tell me how you can tell the valves aren't oem? i'm curious for future reference.

    cams are most likely skunk2's they are one of the only company's that etches the ends of their camshafts like that.

    he's asking 1300 for the head/cams and forged rods. i got my income tax and i'm debating oferring him 800 for the head/cams.

    that is way too much there are people down here selling mint heads with 0 miles full valvetrain with cams for less.

    brand new parts you can get installed or do it yourself.

    I would not trust a head that has been ported unless I had rep shop that does head work do it for me and show me slow test results.

    well seeing those cams alone are $650+ new, i dont think $800 is "way too much"

    well guys, i offered him 750 intentionally and explained to him i knew i was lowballing him, however it was a 5 hour trip for me to pick that head up and i'd be better buying the valvetrain listed in this thread than drive 5+ hours for his head at 1000. and told him what he was asking was prob. a reasonable price just not reasonable for me. where i'm at theres not many people in the honda scene and it's not like i can just turn around and flip my head to make some cash back....


    with that being said, he emailed me back he would take 850 and i offered him 800. i do believe he's going to take it. do you guys think this is a good deal? i do have to drive about 5 hours total to get this.

    he accepted 800, wish there was a way for me to test this head and make sure everything was good, no bent valves.
