01 Hyundai XG300 alarm question

A buddy of mine has that car and for some reason his engine immobilizer from the factory alarm activated. According to him, if you arm the alarm from the remote, you have to disarm it from the remote. If you use the key to unlock the car, and turn the car on, the alarm will go off since its still armed which doesnt make any sense to me. The question is can he disable the engine immobilizer or hes going to have to tow it to a Hyundai dealer to reset the system? He already called hyundai and they told him he needs to tow it in.

Oh since he is the 2nd owner, the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty doesnt apply to him. Supposely since he is the 2nd owner, they reduce it to 6 years.

the keys hyundai gives you from the factory don't have a smartchip in them, hence why the car doesnt recognize the key and deactivate the alarm... He should be able to just lock the car with the remote again, unlock with the remote and be ok...

I had it happen a few times with my hyundai, but who knows, maybe the XG has a different set up...

Actually his mom locked from inside not from the remote since both of his remotes dont work(1 is broken and the other, the battery is dead). And he read up on some forum that the XG does have a different alarm system. He havnt locked his door since his remote died.

My moms car does the same thing. Get a new battery for the remote because thats the only way to shut off that annoying alarm. A few friends have told me it sounds like a cat getting run over lol

According to him, one remote is broken and the other one needs to be reprogrammed since its been dead for over 2 weeks or something like that. Hes getting a new remote and going to reprogram it himself.
