    Looking for a transporter position

Because of school, I am busy 8-4 Mon-Fri causing me to basically quit my current job at Discount Tire. I have done research on this, but could not find anything. I also knew a guy that transported medical supplies for some company using his personal vehicle and they paid him pretty good and they also paid for his gas. He did it full time and drove A LOT, but it has been some time since I have heard from him.

I cannot find any info as to where I can go for something like this. I will be using my personal vehicle. Something like driving to Jacksonville and back every night would be ideal if the pay is right to deliver whatever. I just have no idea where to start looking so does anyone know about this kind of stuff? Just an idea for something until I am finished with my degree because only a nighttime job will work for me now.

I had a friend that delivered coke products to stores, to put in the "impulse" coolers near the registers. He drove his own vehicle, and had a route, and it didn't really matter what hours he worked, as long as the route was taken care of while the businesses were open. Just a thought.

I was thinking about doing a job similar to this. You might be able to get hired a lot faster than me in a 4 door car lol.

When I did flower delivery ($7 per delivery) it was cake. BUT the owner did tell me that if I got into an accident and I was using my vehicle as a service automobile it might cause insurance discrepancies.

    lol, good movie.

Thanks for the info on the coke thing. I will do some more research and see if I can find more info. As far as a vehicle goes, I am pretty sure they want you to have a truck, SUV, or van.

This is one thing I need to find out too. There are a few things like pay, mileage reimbursement and insurance issues that I need to find more about also.

.50 a mile is the going rate. You had better inform your insurance company that it will be for business use or you'll have some severe issues if you have an accident and things get found out.

I would definitely do that. No sense risking a big hit like that.

But first I need to find out a company that does stuff like this!

commercial insurance is about 25% more than your own personal, but anyone who drives the truck will have to be listed on the insurance and that will increase the rates (not sure if you let people drive your truck).

One of my coworkers, her husband owns a business transporting medical waste. I don't believe they are hiring (it is only 2 people in the company) but I will try to find out tomorrow.
