13b turbo rx7 information/help?

i'm a noob to rotarys and someone wants to trade me a 91 rx7 convertible with a turbo 13b for my 95 dx coupe with a gsr.

the car idles up and down, he doesn't know what's wrong with it. he says he thinks it's a vacuum leak. he showed me what he called a "boost selenoid" on the side of the intake manifold that he just changed the gasket on. he said those are 1000 bucks new. to me it looks like a idle air control valve but he assure me it was not. could this be the problem or do you guys think it's something vacuum related? any information would be helpfull

that is a Mazda flux capacitor

If you reboot with f8 it will solve your worries,

umm you posted a non-turbo 13b in the above picture.

Maybe it runs like crap because he bolted a turbo to a NA motor without proper ECU upgrades?

this is possible. i don't really know about troubleshooting? how do i know if it's a non turbo motor or turbo motor? the picture of the motor i posted was not the motor that was in the car. the motor that was in the car that piece was on the passenger side instead of driver side. i wish i had taken engine pictures, i dunno anything about rotarys but if i get it i'm sure i'll learn.

there is one guy here that knows a little about rotarys. he told me it was a factory turbo motor?

You can easily buy block off plates cheap, those parts are just for emissons and if not functioning will cause the up and down idle. See:

I HIGHLY suggest getting a standalone such as a Microtech or at least a RTEK ecu as the stock ECU is basically a ticking time bomb no matter what bandaids you use.

also, if i block it off, is it still going to idle up and down? btw i do have emissions here.

In your position, I would keep the Civic.

Keep the Civic. Dont get into a car that needs work, especially in a state that tests emissions.

Keep the civic. An rx7 is the wrong car to experiment with.

looks like the turbo 2 motor but it's got a front mount intercooler not that intercooler on top the intake.

what you circled in your pic above is called a BAC. It controls the idle, somewhat. it can be removed and blocked off. Its a part most people throw away. you can get them for free or no more than 20 bucks for a perfect condition used one.

Convertible Rx7's NEVER came turbo in America.

Take a picture of the actual engine and post it up. A Vert with a TII engine will be worth more, and a great car. But i suggest you go do some heavy reading before getting one. You should know about your car before owning it.
