o alright
yeah i got mine out the door for 33k
dont waste your money on a sti over priced for what they are, ether a base wrx and build it up or a evo,
im telling u this from experience and lots of it,
Care to share said experience with us? Not doubting you, just wondering where youre coming from.Originally Posted by solarsvx

im all abought going fast
sti
hid headlights,
dccd tranny "useless for drag racing applications""
bremebo brakes "but nice to have"
10' spoiler
drive by wire
completly new engine for us market "part's are hard to come by"
all parts thar are just for the bling apeal
by a base wrx save 8,000 $ or so put 1,000 in basic mods and beat the sti and save 7,000 for a rainy day
now on to the evo
little pricy but well worth it 4g63 engine 10 times better, tried and proven for 12 years not 2 years like the sti also the track and hp number dont lie.
evo
exhaust//intake/cams//mbc low 12s hi 11s 375-400 hp
sti
exhaust//intake///MBC maybe break hi 12s ? 340 hp if that
it basically boils down to what you wanna do with the car, you want a good all around car track and some drag racing buy a sti you want a drag car and car thats super fast buy a evo
evo= more mod friendly
sti= way too damm complicated
FYI
ther are abough5 evo's off hand all in the low 12s and 3 in the 11s with stock internals and bolt ons
there is ummm no sti's i know of in the 11s and all the fast subies are wrx's models, tony justin and me and frank when he had his

Other than that I agree with what youre saying.
Oh and there has been an STi to get into and pass 11s so idk why you keep saying there hasnt.

not in central florida that i know of?Originally Posted by schoellnasty

and as for weak trannies the transmision will treat you as well as you treat it right,
<<--24,0000 miles with countless track runs,
Oh I thought you meant anywhere. In that case yeah there are none to hit 11s yet in CFL. (I was referencing the car in Puerto Rico that went 10.7 awhile back btw). But I am hoping for some of these Tampa guys to pony up and get to the track.Originally Posted by solarsvx
+1 on the 6spd being geared to short. 5th shouldnt be touched by a stock car in the 1/4.
+2 on the 5spd lasting with a decent driver. You always hear about "my tranny broke" not "my tranny didnt break".

i totally agree, i know 4 friends personally who have snaped there trannies in there wrx, and even 2 people i know blew the engine, scarry thoughtOriginally Posted by schoellnasty
i heard abought that guy in PR also.
i think there is a 9 second wrx but its totaly for drag and not even driven on the streets.
Yeah the Easy Street wrx(s) are into the 9s. They use automatic trannies though. Their whole race team will actually be at Mastro Subaru in Tampa on Friday, but lucky me gets to move back to UCF that day so I cant make it.Originally Posted by solarsvx
But back to the original topic...I dont think an STi could be had for much less now than what they were going for. Subaru isnt struggling to sell them. If you want a cheap STi get a slightly used one. They can be had for well under 30k.

sti over a wrx any day of the week, dont be mad that u didnt get one....
solarsvx, you need to get your facts straight. EJ20 has been around for much longer than 2 years (anyone here of this place called Japan?). Just because you dont know where to look for parts, doesnt mean they arent out there. And the reason there arent 11 s STis is because people who buy them dont care about drag racing (usually). Youve had a bad experience with the car, thats fine. Doesnt mean you have to go around bashing and making up all these stories so no one gets them.
however, like you said, for drag racing the EVO is better because thats all its good at.
Racing! Because basketball, baseball, football and soccer only require one ball.
