The B&W landscapes are stunning. Have you had larger photos of them printed (or I guess developed depending on the gear) yet? I am curious if the older film stuff still holds up when blown up compared to today's gear.

Those were shot on my 5D.

It does if you are shooting MF or bigger, actually in most cases with a good lens and proper composition MF and LF sheet film is vastly superior to even the best full-frame DSLR's on the market right now. I recently acquired a Mamiya RB67 6x7 medium format and the neg scans using an Epson V550 and Tri-X 400 put to shame the pictures I've taken with my friend's D800, by a long shot.

The 5x7 needs a good lens on it, like a Schneider Super Angulon or something, but even on an old Bausch and Lomb Zeiss Tessar from the 1900's I can easily surpass the detail given from a camera on the caliber of the 5D III and it could hang with the 1Dx no sweat. A recent negative revealed a side profile in detail of a US Sugar freight train in the distance that barely showed up on digital; it was apparently 5 miles away. I could make out the front of the train and the type of locomotive.

Their Achilles Heel is their size and weight; they are not suited for most mobile applications or moving subjects which is where newer DSLRs are much better. You would be hard pressed to see a view camera at a sporting event. Plus you factor in the time taken to develop and print the image and it is easy to see why digital has proliferated so much in American society which has the attention span of a starved Pekingese.

Is it superior in terms of image quality? Hands down without question, by an overwhelming landslide. No contest, even with the 6x7.

Does that necessarily make it better? Probably not. There are a lot of situations where I would rather have my 5D, it usually accompanies me when I shooting MF and LF. LF film is fucking expensive to develop especially if you are shooting slide or color.
